Welcome to Baker Elementary School, a California Distinguished School! We believe this award affirms our ongoing ideals, beliefs, and educational practices that help define Baker as a safe, positive, caring community where children, staff, and parents can learn and grow. Our wonderful students, tremendously supportive community, dedicated support staff, and, of course, exceptional teachers are very proud of our school.
We’re excited about the growing opportunities the new school year brings. Our teachers and staff shape the school vision on a daily basis as they carefully attend to the unique learning needs of Baker’s diverse student body. Our teachers, staff members, and parent volunteers work tirelessly to ensure that every student is known and cared for, and that all students are given the same opportunity to succeed. Baker’s
students are truly an exceptional group of young people who inspire
us daily to do our utmost in nurturing the very best from them.
This, of course, is only possible because of our talented and hard-working cadre of teachers. Through district-sponsored and teacher-implemented support programs, these dedicated professionals engage in a continual process of learning and self-assessment to design appropriately challenging and relevant curricula, all of which is carefully aligned to state standards. This reflects our belief that learning to teach is a life-long process demanding shared leadership, collegiality, a common vision, and a commitment to grow.
Finally, Baker Elementary School continues to enjoy a distinguished tradition of community involvement, reflected most visibly through active, daily parent participation. On any given day, campus visitors can observe our numerous forms of this involvement, from helping kindergartners practice their letters and numbers, to facilitating a literacy center in a second grade classroom, or by translating pen-pal letters for fourth graders corresponding with peers in another country. With these and countless other forms of support, Baker proudly and successfully serves its educational mission as a vital and contributing member of the greater Moreland community. Together, we can make a real difference in the lives of the children we serve.
